This one is a tough nut to crack. There appear to be several Fred J. Schmidts running around Family Search. The only source I really have for him is F-A-G, and I'm positive this is the right one (on F-A-G). The dates don't seem to match up on FS census records, etc., plus a lot of moving around the States.

The profile has the correct death place. Can't be sure if the Texas birth place is right. Spouse is correct. I can connect the son through some other records. Can anyone give me some help figuring out which Fred J. Schmidt is the right one of FS? I'm just confused on how to interpret these records. Much appreciated!

Woohoo!!! A breakthrough!!! Soooo cooool! This is beyond good! This is my step-daughter’s paternal line that I have been sweating for a year and a half. Would that my own brickwalls were so easy to break down.

Ruben! Muchas gracias, mi compadre! Tu eres lo mejor!!!
Es un placer haber podido ayudarte !

I saw this one, and wasn’t sure it it was my Fred. I saw another that had parents from Germany. I haven’t put up a profile of Fred’s wife, Edith Eckhardt of Frank, Russia, yet. Need to hop in that.
Ok, I found an obit. Apparently, Texas may not be Fred’s birthplace. The obit says Russia which would fit with his wife also being a Volga German.
In the obit, a “Carl, Jr.” is listed, so now I need to hunt for a Carl, Sr. Adding Volga German tag.
