Do you check the original entry in the change tab before merging profiles?

I have found that going back to the original entry as seen in the changes tab can show who the person was intended to be, unobscured by later additions or changes which may or may not have belonged with the original profile.

I have done this in the past just on difficult merges, and will be doing this as a policy for future merges, to make sure I have the right data matched to the right profile.
