Was Mary Sallard married to a Lawson?

There are two profiles for Mary Sallard, likely representing the same person, Sallard-3 and Sallard-11.  The first is married to Henry Lawson and the second to John Lawson and Rowland Lawson III.  The sources in the profiles all appear to be family trees except for the reliably unreliable "U.S. and International Marriage Records" noting a marriage to Henry Lawson in 1689.

The one source I can find for a marriage of Mary Sallard, daughter of Simon Sallard, is Robert K. Headley's "Married Well and Often: Marriages of the Northern Neck of Virginia, 1649–1800" which says she married John Kelly before 11 Apr 1688 (p. 210).  I haven't checked his primary sources yet.

I think all of these Lawson marriages need to be removed, but wanted to ask for opinions in G2G first.  This impacts mulitple Lawson profiles that need to be merged thanks to a bunch of duplicate profiles recently created.  What say ye?

Yet another Mary Sallard (Kelly-9280), this one correctly married to John Kelly but also to Henry Lawson.

Mary Mallard was married to Henry Lawson in 1709

The source I have for her marriages is this;

The Decendants of Hugh Brent, immigrant to the Isle of Wight County, Virginia 1642 and some allied families, page 234.

which states:

Henry Lawson...He married by 1709, Mary Kelly the relic of John Kelly and daughter of Simon Sallard and his wife, Elizabeth Tayor, daughter of John Taylor, "ancient planter".

So, She was born Mary Sallard, first hunsband was John Kelly, second husband Henry Lawson by 1709.

I will try to help with her bio and the merging of the Sallards.

Thank you!

Laurie,

Thanks very much for weighing in and providing that citation!  It does provide some sources, but I don't see a reference provided for the Henry Lawson marriage.  Nevertheless, it seems solid enough to proceed with merging these profiles, leaving the marriages to John Kelly and Henry Lawson, and removing John Lawson and Rowland Lawson during the process.

I'll start proposing merges for the Lawsons and you're welcome to as well.  Thanks.

Kerry

I've found a more definitive source that attests to the second marriage:

"Know all men by these presents that we Henry Lawson and Mary Lawson both of the parish of Christ Church in ye County of Lancaster as well for and in consideration of ye natural love and affection which we have and bear unto John Kelly, son of ye aforesaid May Lawson as for divers other good… do give and grant unto ye said John Kelley all that piece, parcel and tract of Land situate and lying in ye parish and county aforesaid containing by estimate 125 acres of land… part of a parcel of land heretofore given and granted unto ye said Mary Lawson, then Mary Kelly by a certain Thomas Baker and Elizabeth his wife who was ye mother of ye said Mary Lawson."  It also reveals Mary's mother's second marriage to Thomas Baker.

I would contact the PM's first and ask if they have valid sources for these spouses. If not, then I would disconnect them, leaving links in the bio with an explanation that they are possible spouses.
