See above. My name at birth was Joanne Lee Whitmore and I was born at Eastern Maine General Hospital on May 15, 1952. Margaret was only 15 1/2 at the time and gave me up for adoption. Her mother, Gladys surrendered her to DHS when she was 1 1/2 years old - so that would have been around 1938. Margaret grew up in foster care where she met my birth father, Alton Shields. Any information regarding either of the women would be appreciated. I have found my father's family and have made connections. I would like to do the same with any Whitmores who may be related.
