Removing parents and spouse from a profile

Yesterday while I was working on a profile on my watch list the parents of this person disappeared. They had been removed by someone who then left a note on the profile stating they had been removed. I checked this person and they had just created the same profile. ( The one I managed was made first and I adopted it) I figured said person didn't want to merge so they changed the info on my managed profile. I was really upset with this so I waited till today to post and I orphaned the profile.

Deliberately creating duplicates is against the rules. Vandalizing some one else's profile is a crime. Restore your profile as you had it and report the vandal. If he /she has done it once , it WILL keep happening.

I think that is grounds for notifying info@wikitree.com. People should not be detaching parents without good reason, or creating duplicates, sounds like they should either be mentored, or even stopped from doing it. You could propose a merge, or re-propose a merge between the two profiles, if it's been rejected, stating why it's been re-proposed.

I've re-proposed your merge.
Perhaps they didn't get that they could have the parents without removing the existing child.

It does look silly with the two Anthonys as brothers, until you get used to the WikiTree idiom.  It's not obvious that this is the way to go.

Thank you. Just to be clear it wasn't the profile managers that done it. It was someone else. The newer profile seems to have disappeared.

Neither of those profiles is new.  Herringe-1 was created in 2011.

Unsurprisingly, Herring-293 was created in 2012.  The creator proposed the merge an hour later.  It happens.

The merge must have got blocked.  That also happens.

Yes RJ I know neither one of them are new :-p The new one is gone now.

Just a reminder that most of the time when things like this happen, it's due to a misunderstanding about how to make connections, merges, etc. on WikiTree. It's always best to consider that it was a mistake rather than someone intentionally vandalizing.

That makes it easier to contact other people and ask them what they were aiming for, too. ;-)

Thanks for the help, everyone!
