Can I find out who left an inheritance to my father?

Question

My father, Kenneth Edwin Welsh (1910-1997) inherited money after 1965 and before 1968. He was resident in Burton-on -Trent, Staffordshire, England. He said the money came from an Uncle who owned a needle making factory.

My great Grandfather William Smallwood (1830-1893) is said to have been related to the Millward needle making family of Redditch. I have not found any written evidence.

Wills available online thru Ancestry  England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966, 1973-1995  You would have to know the name to check. Interesting write up on Wikipedia on Henry Milward & sons. Talks about some of the intermarriages that made the company bigger and I would assume stronger.
