Brick Wall: Was Madeleine Louise Connelly the husband of Wayne Gurnee Henderson?

Wayne Gurnee Henderson (1900-1998), the son of William F. Henderson and Julia (Hill) Henderson, b. in Cleveland, Ohio:

Can someone help source Madeleine Louise Connelly, who may have been Wayne's first wife; they had a daughter together.  

1.  I've sourced the daughter in some census records in Cleveland, as she was raised by Wayne's two sisters for a period of time. This is consistent with family stories: the daughter says she was raised by two "schoolteachers", and the census records show Wayne's two sisters were a Vice Principal and an English teacher.

2.  I've sourced Wayne's second wife, Olive Carpenter.  

But there's a problem and it's a bit sensitive.
