Hello, Hoping I can get some assistance in chasing down my Butler roots. My GrandFather Edward Butler was born in Providence RI august 1900. He has a Brother Frank Butler that was born august 26 1899 in New Bedford Mass.
Their Father Fred Butler was born 1867 In Putnam Connecticut Mother Josephine Butler nee" Hunter was born 1868 in California
Fred's parents are listed as Octave Butler and Adelle De Bien (have also see de bient and De Biend)
Josephine parents are Mathew Hunter born 1845 and Marie Lanza Hunter.
They were Married in Providence RI in 08 November 1887
I have one entry for smithfield township and another is for Lincoln
My Grandfather Edward died in Philadelphia in 1955
Josephine was living with Edwards family when she passed. A family story from my father , (who passed in 1969) was that Josephine spoke French. When she died in Philadelphia I was told the Butler family did not want her buried there But took her back to "New England"
