Adams or Murphy's related to John Adams and John Quincy Adams , help ??

My great grandma Julia Murphy Calvert was married to William Brooke Calvert her mother was Leovicy Milam Adams and she told me several times we are related to John Adams and John quincy Adams and she was a faithful Christian woman who never lied in her life.
How would I go about proving this and from which side ?

Tammy, our grandmother Adams told us the same thing. She was right and wrong. We ARE descended from John Quincy Adams, but the one born 1843 in New York state. (In fact there were many children named that around that time.)

And, she was wrong because when that name is used the assumption is that PRESIDENT John Quincy Adams is meant.

You will need to do a lot of census searching to prove or disprove your situation. I would start with the Adams spouse of Leovicy Milam Adams.

Hi Tammy, The best way to figure this out would be to develop your own Adams line back to the period where you can either prove or disprove the connection.
