Is 'Cubine' descended from Clan Buchanan?

My last name is 'Cubine' but I can't really seem to find anything on it since it's not very common. Apparently, it was spelled 'Cubbon' before it changed and I was wondering if I could possibly be a descendant of Clan Buchanan. I also googled the surname MacCubbin/MacCubin and it said it was Scottish Gaelic but I'm really confused. In George F. Black's 'Surnames of Scotland', MacCubbin gave its name to M'Cubbinstone in Dumfries(?), but I'm not quite sure what that means. If anyone can help me understand where my last name came from and if I could possibly be a descendant of Clan Buchanan please help me.

Any surname that starts with Mac or Mc is of course Gaelic, as 'mac' means 'son of' in Gaelic. As for Cubbon, there's an old family on the Isle of Man that uses that spelling of the name (Sir Mark Cubbon, commissioner of Mysore in the 19th century, came from this family).

Is there any way I can find out more about Cubine/Cubbon ancestors? The furthest I can go back on is Patrick Cubbon who was born Feb. 10, 1731, in Kirk German, Isle of Man and his wife was Averick Shimmin. I was also wondering where I could find out about the Cubbon surname.
