Hi Charles,

I found a profile on find a grave for William Patterson it gives a picture of the headstone however no dates are visible anymore or where ever engraved on said headstone. The find a grave member alleges his birth location to be Ireland however I found no source to verify said information. You can see the headstone here

Hi Steve, thank you for your quick reply. William was my 5th g grandfather and I have not been able to find any source either. I put his birthplace as Ireland from family history and I have personally been to his grave on several occasions as a child but cannot recall any of my then living relatives commenting about William.

Charles

Partial TEXT: William Patterson of Baltimore (father of the famous Betsy Patterson Bonaparte) was evidently related to the Georgia and South Carolina Pattersons. His will was not only recorded in Maryland, but also in Franklin Co, Georgia. I have never seen a copy of it but understand it is one of the longest on record and contains a history of the Patterson family and many admonitions to his progeny. William Patterson 1743-1801; probably from Ireland. Buried near Wrens, Jefferson County, Georgia. Married 1765 Nancy Mossman. Issues: Robert b 5 Oct 1769, m Eleanor Wright; John m Mattie Moxley, m Mollie Clements; Nancy m Dr Sterett; Mollie m John Patterson Sr 1736-1827

Unfortunately, I can't find a full text version of this online. Snippet: Wit : William Patterson, Alexander Mackay, Michael Germain.
