How to add people after uploading a gedcom file [closed]

How do you add people after you upload a gedcom file?  I did look at the help instructions and it states there is an "add" button.  I have yet to see one.  I did place a check in the box to the left of the person's name on the gedcompare file, they disappeared, do not know where.  (They were not suggested matches or anything).  Those that "disappeared" do not show up anywhere yet.  I'm lost.

Thanks.

I uploaded, and have access, to a cousin's profile on Wikitree.  It is his gedcom file I am referring to and his profile id listed in the Wikitree ID field below this message.

Hi Betty,

This is from the GedCompare Help Page:

  • Add buttons don't appear on the main table until all suggested matches in your GEDCOM have been confirmed or rejected. This could be a pain in the butt if there are a lot of bad suggestions but we believe it's important for preventing the creation of duplicate profiles that would later need to be merged.
  • Add buttons don't appear on comparison pop-ups until all suggested matches for all of the starting person's nuclear family members have been confirmed or rejected.

Could this be what is going on?

Probably Keith.  Thanks.  At this rate I should have just added one profile at a time.  No time saving in this process.  Nothing like duplication, putting it all together in one gedcom and having to do it again here.

(Sorry forgot I was on Tryone's profile when replied to your answer.  This is now Betty.)  Sigh...

Your GedCompare report says this is how far along you are currently:

2782 / 4987

Yep, and those remaining ALL need to be compared, Keith.  Sucks when the names that come up do not even compare to file in the gedcom.
Gedcompare is a pretty slick tool once you have completed the suggested matches. You click on ADD and you see a WikiTree "add person" form that's mostly filled in, including connections to the first-degree relatives who are already in WikiTree.

Now that you've reviewed 2782 matches already, it would be a good idea to finish.
That must be hard to remember not to do any contributions under his name when you log into his account.  Probably you should always log in with your own account and be on his trusted list or added as a manager for access :)

And one of the bits of information that Keith quoted could be restated as:

Add buttons will appear on comparison pop-ups once all suggested matches for all of the starting person's immediate family members have been confirmed or rejected.

This means that you can add some people before finishing the match process for the entire Gedcom.

Based on my experience with Gedcompare, I recommend that you start from a person who is already in WikiTree and has some first-degree relatives who aren't in WikiTree. Open the COMPARE screen for that starting person and add profiles for their parents, spouse, children, and siblings (be sure to add the parents before you add siblings). Then move on to another person who's already in WikiTree (maybe one of the family members you just added) and make that person your new starting person. This preserves the connections in the tree.

Keith: I don't believe she can edit his Gedcompare file for him unless she is logged in as him.
Ah... thank you!
Yes, I have access to his profile, Ellen. :)
I did find an add button, Ellen.  Althought that doesn't make me any happier as far as speed and efficiency goes.  I not only have to compare my 1900 that are left, to multiply that by about four times to each name that Wikitree comes up with as possible matches, I now have to add, have the person come up as a new entry and then save that.

Martha Hunt, example, comes up with every Martha variation there is.  I had a Martha Dean, and Martha Ann DUNN came up as a match to compare.  Holy cow.

Not sure I like this new system and may just delete the gedcom before doing any more.  I don't much like duplication of effort.  Waste of time. Sorry, I am really, really grumpy with this new system.
You are right Keith.  I keep forgetting I am on his trusted list.  ARGGHHHH... I just don't want to drive him crazy with my questions as far as the gedcom goes.  I guess?????
Ellen, I didn't review those matches.  It automatically said those numbers.  So not sure why those are ok?

Hmm...prolly jinxing myself asking that.
I just found out, as I hadn't tried when I logged in, I have to be logged in on Tyrone's profile, won't let me look at the gedcompare since I did not upload it.  :(  Oh well, I can understand that, Keith! :)
Correction, Keith.  I did UPLOAD it, but via his profile which he gave me access too.  Now I am confusing myself even more. LOL
