Import GEDCOMs

Question

I imported a GEDCOM, went through a ton of matches   (probably messed up some profiles), what next?

I thought that it would merge with my existing tree and fill in some blank spots, but nothing seems to happen.

I look at Antoine Perrault (Perrault-63) and I can see that it has been modified by the new GEDCOM, but why aren't his parents now listed?

Were those parents matches or not? If they were not matches you may still have to add them to the tree one by one from your GEDCOMpare report.

It seems to me that you might need to attach them manually.  Are they listed on your Watchlist?

You have definitely made some edits from your Gedcom. After you added profile https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Perreault-63 you edited it and re-added the same content two more times. I'm guessing that you thought you were adding the parents, but you were editing his profile instead. Without seeing your Gedcompare file, it's difficult to figure out what went wrong.

You won't be able to add any new people until you confirm or reject all suggested matches. Once you do that "Add" buttons will appear next to the profiles that are not yet in WikiTree.

OK, I got to where the ADD button shows up.

If I select the add button, it takes me to where I can add the person, but I still need to add a lot of info. What was the purpose of adding my  GEDCOM if it wasn't to save all that work. Doesn't the GEDCOM contain relationships?
