Are there any Czech members who would like to contribute to a Czech Resources page?

I'm working on a Czech (Bohemia & Moravia) resource page for people who have Czech ancestors or need resources in order to help search their Czech ancestors. Do we have any members who would like to contribute or just get in touch with other Czech researchers?

Oh I hope someone joins you. I would love to know more about Czech resources.
Maggie did start up a page. I have started editing it slowly. Like I have nothing else to do right? haha! Do you have Czech ancestors by chance?

Would this be of help?

See http://mesta.obce.cz to find out your ancestor´s place and its region (kraj) in the Czech Republic.
Notice: First set "bez diakritiky" and then fill the searching. The database knows only Czech names (no German).

Děkuji  Helmut!

There is a link to all the available online records in the Czech republic on the Czech republic research page. I didn't provide individual links as the family search page has valuable information on guiding you to the correct regional archive & links to the online records.

s mým pozdravem

I checked the czech resource page. The link to online resources leads to an empty page. Pilsen is the only regional archive with a web address for online research. I think the "online resources" page would be a good place for the archive websites listed.

Hi Michelle, I did not see this question until Eowyn pointed it out to me but I have been mainly doing research on my Czech ancestors for the last few years and I would like to add what limited resources I have to your list! I just posted a question on a change in a Czech resource in the last 5 minutes!

However, I can help, please let me know!

Michael, if Michelle does not get back right away, I can help put your links onto it. I added a bunch but it definitely needs more !

Thanks, Maggie!

I sent Michelle a private message right after I wrote this answer to ensure that is would be seen one way or another and we have had a few messages back and forth now involving this topic. Thank you for your thought but it ibeing taken care of. I sent her some Czech online archives I found as well as some cemetery indices. The latter which I just found during the conversation which seem, at the very least, like good starting points. Hopefully, through this new resource lists page, better and more user-friendly resources will be made known to the public. Better yet, would be if they could all be completely free ;).

I just remembered I found a glossary for Czech genealogical terms. It's a pdf file so I hope it comes through alright. www.feefhs.org/guides/Czech-wordlist.pdf

Oh that IS a nice find ! I will add it now.
I haven't looked at it super thoroughly so I forgot how long it was haha

Well I must be getting to bed now. I am slowly running out of a lot of free time for genealogical research before winter break ends but if I find more resources or generally useful info, I will be sure to share it as soon as possible. I cannot wait to see this page really take form!
The link to the sudentenland map is broken
That map link apparently is gone so I added two other options . Thanks for pointing that out !

Actually it's Bohemian research that I'm most interested in. What a fascinating history about the Germans who settled in a ring around what is now the Czech Republic. Sudentenland. FASCINATING.
