Does anyone want a Carnahan family bible? No charge.

In the 70's or 80's my father purchased the entire library of one J.F. Carnahan from Hillvale, PA.  I inherited these books including the Carnahan family Bible.  I would be glad to give it to anyone who would like to have it.

You could try contacting living Carnahan's in PA. I did not find a Hillvale. There is a Millvale and also a Hilldale in PA.

Another possibility would be to post a message at       http://genforum.genealogy.com/carnahan/

It looks from the lack of responses as if no one is interested.  I'd just like to make clear that this is not the case - we all dream of such a post as this about our own family.  Also, anyone here would be happy to caretake such a bible, but hopefully you are equally happy to caretake until a descendant is found?

I think everyone is just waiting to give a member of the family itself time to see this message and respond.  I'd guess this is also why no one has 'Answered' but simply commented - more people will read it as an unanswered question.

You may find other records throughout the library with personal names or dedications in them.  It sounds wonderful. smiley

Also, if you find a descendant to pass the bible on to, it would be lovely if you could then post again to let us know.  It's always a happy story when an heirloom finds it's rightful place.

I would be interested IF my family was in this Carnahan line.  I have a Samuel Richard Carnahan and Isabella Jane Ramsey married Oct. 21, 1841 at the Pequa Presbyterian Church, Chester County, PA. I believe, but not sure Samuel who went by Richard was born in Delaware and his wife, Isaabella was born in PA.  Their daughter Belle is my connection.  My email is sasha7363@yahoo.com
I would love to have it

Does it contain any dates from the 1700s from either New York or MA? If yes I would be interested in hearing more to see if it has info on "my" people. I have a copy of The Descendants of Samuel (Carnahan) Cannon of Ulster, Ireland and Blandford, MA by Almon Brown Cannon 1932. This is my line.

I'd be interested in having the Carnahan family Bible if no one has taken it off your hands yet.  I have Carnahan ancestors who settled in New England, and I can trace my Carnahan family line back to Scotland and Ireland.  Thanks

Some of the counties in Pennsylvania (the ones I've dealt with anyway) have active historians and genealogical societies with libraries. If you donated it to the appropriate county "history and genealogical" library, they could file it for use by subsequent descendants. They might only keep the relevant pages of family data, not the whole bible.
