Something to store away for possible future reference. About 35 miles away in Wemyss, Fifeshire, marriage banns were published on 1 Nov 1757 for James Christie and Alexandrina Linn. Also, in case you find your Christies came from Edinburgh or Leith, I have a wee bit of 17th- and 18th-century data on the family in those places, All are related to my studies of the Lynns in Scotland.
Thank you for this Loretta. This is interesting James and Alexander are very  common names in my Christie line.
You're very welcome Charmaine. The name Andrew also goes way back, though I don't know whether it's part of your line. In fact, the only child Andrew had that I know of was a daughter. Andrew Chrystie in Leith (a village in Edinburgh) and wife Grisell Lynn sasines (deeds) dated 1623 and 1630. Andrew died in either 1630 or 1631. If you'd like more details, just email me at Lynneage@comcast.net.
With my apologies, I need to correct something I said about Wemyss. It's in Angus, not Fife, and is 45 miles from Dunning, not 35. However, there's this adult Andrew Christie in Fifeshire in 1813...

On 19 March 1813, an indenture was registered in the Burgh of Inverkeithing between William Walker and John Crawford and Andrew Christie and his cautioner. Inverkeithing is definitely in Fifeshire, about 29 miles SE of Dunning. I found the document extract at the website of National Records of Scotland.  Also ...

In Crieff, Perthshire, Andrew Christie was an ironmonger and/or grocer during the years 1844-1849, In 1844, he was partners with a William McEwen.

The above is found in Reference Nos. B34/15/7, CS280/30/80, CS280/11/13, CS280/35/27/2 at http://catalogue.nrscotland.gov.uk/nrsonlinecatalogue/search.aspx.

Finally, I assume you've also looked for the spelling Chrystie.
Thank you Loretta, There is a big possibility they were farmers. I have just looked at Andrews death record and am now thinking he must have been born in 1806 . Appreciate your help.
My pleasure.

Thank you Ron. Do you think this is the only option? Family rumour is Andrews mums name was Christian but I could not find this.
Not sure. Depends on how certain he was born in December 1811!

This is the only traceable record for an Andrew Christie in Dunning, Perthshire between 1808-1813. Another record for this Andrew has his birth May 1812.

Thank you Ron. I have just looked at Andrews death record and am now thinking he must have been born in 1806. He married a Margaret Dow. He did however have a child Alexander and Mary as shown in the household members. This record you kindly sent does seem accurate. What has thrown me out is that my family members think his mum was called Christian. What are your thoughts about Christian Robertson 1771- 1817 who married James Christie 1769- 1830 ? Really appreciate your time and effort Ron thank you.
You have Andrew's date of birth as 24 December 1811. There was an Andrew born that day, christened 27 December 1811 the son of James Christie, however these events took place in Dunbarney, Perthshire, not Dunning. (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X1JZ-L41).

My suspicion is that this James Christie was the son of Hugh Christie and born in 1773, Dunbarney.

Andrew in the above 1851 Census, listed his birth place as Dunning. Likewise his wife and children. I have identified four  Andrew Christie's born in Perthshire between 1808-1813. With the exception of Andrew of Dunbarney, all are traceable.

In digging I found a family tree on Ancestry, Andrew of Dunning, that lists his parents as Andrew & Helen Sharp. The tree features Mary Christie born 1850.
Thank you Ron
