Does anyone have information on John James McMahon? He died in South Australia and married Elizabeth Geaharty in 1874. Their children were Ellen, James, John and Edward.

Elizabeth re married in 1884 to Patrick Richard Neylon (a school teacher).

John must have died between 1878-1884

I have no information on where he was born, what date and who his parents were. If someone had information please help

I looked for an index to his death on http://www.genealogysa.org.au/resources/online-databases.html thinking that you might find information on his parents from a death certificate. There isn't a John James, but here is a list of the McMahon's starting with "J".

Death Index

YEAR REG SURNAME GIVEN NAME RELATIVE NAME DISTRICT MORE INFO
1879 96/135 MCMAHON John   Adelaide More info...
1877 79/278 MCMAHON James Michael MCMAHON (F) Clare More info...
1881 108/276 MCMAHON John   Frome More info...
1879 97/240 MCMAHON John   Adelaide More info...
1883 131/112 MCMAHON James Michael James MCMAHON (F) Flinders More info...
1876 72/87 MCMAHON John   Robe More info...
1876 72/36 MCMAHON James Michael MCHAULIFFE (BL) Adelaide More info...
1879 97/310 MCMAHON Joseph   Adelaide More info...
1880 105/90 MCMAHON John   Adelaide More info...

Is there anything on his marriage certificate to indicate who he was and where he came from?

This website also has marriage indices and John married Elizabeth Geharty in 1874 in Burra district.

Have you looked through TROVE for any more details?

Rosemary, He is the one who died in 1881. He was thrown off his horse. If you could look at it and tell me the names of parents and DoB it would be fantastic!

I believe he was born in Ireland. I used trove to find out his date of death which was Feb 3 1881
Sorry I didn't get back to you. I don't have a paid subscription to the SA databases. Most of mine are in Vic, WA, and VDL until they left for the mainland.
