Looking for any info on Great grandparents.

Hello, I am looking for anyone who might know something or might be able to help me find the father/mother/overall family of either Cornelis Brouwer (27-7-1904--3-6-1988) and Riekelt Bos (24/6/1906-2/10/1972). I already have an extensive family tree on their spouses (brouwer- iedje Nentjes, Bos- Jannetje de Boer) which i have yet to add to my wikitree. I am nearly certain they were born in Urk and am certain they died there. Also the father of Cornelis Brouwer was named Jan Brouwer but that is all i know.

I already have marriage dates and pictures of their graves but that is all the info i have as of yet. Anyone with info or who is willing to help please contact.
[Edit]
My grandfathers name is Albert Brouwer and my grandmothers name is Alie Bos (maiden name).

     Thanks
  Sytze

Thank you all for your help. The information given to me helped me find a quite large ancestral tree which had several ancestors on the Brouwer side, who's name i would later use to find ancestors dating back to the 1600's.

And for the Bos side I am currently in the 1800's. I will post links that show the earliest ancestors and the info on them. If anyone can find further info after this or wants to post hints feel free to.

Hi again! :)

Now as you know the birth date of Jan Albertz Brouwer and you think he was born in Urk his baptism must be findable at Zoekakten.nl. If you go to this page you see at the top the abbreviations  of our Nederlandse Provincies. Choose FL for Flevoland; and you will find Urk is in the alphabetical list there.  Cllick Urk. You will see this .

As we are looking for a birth after 1811 we click in the middle row of the Burgelijke Stand: "geboorten".  After you did you have to click on the words "Maak een keuze" in the heart of the page. It brings you here and you see:

ID: Film / Reeks op FS: Opmerking:
6574659 Geboorten 1814-1847; Huwelijken 1814-1861; Tafels 1814-1859 index per film
6574660 Geboorten 1848-1870; Tafels 1873-1882 index per film
6574655 Geboorten 1871-1882 index per film
10703472 Geboorten 1883-1891 index per film
10744366 Geboorten 1892-1903 index per film
10744380 Geboorten 1904-1912

As he was born in 1863 we click "INDEX PER FILM" behind the second line Geboorten (Birth) 1848-1870. As we can search that way on year. The links on the next page brings you to that exact year. And than searching starts. Churchbook opening as you click on the year starting at January of in this case 1863 Now we need to find October. To see if he is there...... If he was born the 23rd it is possible you have to look after that date as well as not all fathers went the same day to subcripe their children. But in this case....... :) He is there!!! Jan Brouwer.  (right page, last Akte). ;-) And we learn his father's name and profession and his mother's name as well.

At start it might look a little complicated but after a short time you will be able to search fast.

Let me know if that was too much info or please ask me again. Happy to help.

Next step is to add the source to the profile. But first go see!!!

Groeten,

A.

Ja ik woon in Aalsmeer Sytzke. :D Yes I live in Aalsmeer, The Netherlands Sytze (not Sytzke, I am sorry).

I had a lot of help here as I started especially of Bea Timmermans but also of the others of the Dutch_Roots and I like to pass that on. I know how hard things looked here. Maar door doen leer je snel. But by just doing you learn. DO NOT FEEL AFRAID TO MAKE MISTAKES. Everything is reversable but "Merges". As you re much younger than me ;p so you will learn even much faster!!  I am sure.

Good/Happy to see you here. And please never ever be afraid to ask for anything,. Hebben wij ook gedaan. We did too! :)

Typ in zoekvenster Brouwer.

Oeps thought you re Dutch, translation:

Another great way to search for your Ancestors at the Netherlands is  to use the WieWasWie's (WhoWasWho) website. It finds particularly the documents after the year 1811.

Type in the zoek/search box "Brouwer". All Brouwers will appear that are known at WieWasWie.

You can then refine your search options. In this case, choose Flevoland at Collection Area (collectiegebied) and you will get many Brouwers in Flevoland. : D Clicking at the top on the blue coloured
PLAATS (village/city) all Brouwers of the same village or city will be put together.

Hmmmm as I m writing I m trying out things. Seems the option refine on Collection Area,  doesn t work well at the English site.I can t choose Flevoland .:/ It is just not there as an option. Mabey I do something wrong. But I am afraid you have to search on the Dutch site. Well :D we are here!

Just try!

Transcription of the marriage Jan and Cornelia at WieWasWie here. Sometimes the original document is added to the transcription at WieWasWie. Unfortunately not at the marriage of Jan and Cornelia. To search for the real notes / deeds you have to search again via Zoekakten.nl, Flevoland, Urk and then marital status/burgelijke stand: marriages/trouwen. And then search in October 1885.

Sytze I do not know what you know about Urk. But Urk is a very unique and exceptional place in the Netherlands. Very strict on faith (Gereformeerd).   And isolation and small population caused inbreeding. Famous for their costumes as well.

Urk was for ages an isolated, very small island in the former "Zuiderzee" or "Zuijderzee" (Sea) now IJsselmeer (Lake -since 1932) as you know the Dutch lol they build dykes and making lakes of sea or  land out of seas or lakes.........or making lakes at land. They re crazy lol!

Urk was an island in the Zuidersea but became an island in a very big lake as the Dutch build the Afsluitdijk (afsluit=close), finnished in 1932. Then in 1939 there was a dyk build between Urk and the mainland. And in 1942 it became part of the Noordoostpolder......Urk was not an island anymore.

I think one of our great members of the Dutch_Roots Joop van Belzen......... has family around there. At least at the mainland as far as I can recall.

Well I think I provided you of a lot of info lol............ take your time! I don't want to spam you. I m just enthusiastic. :D

: D Go for it Sytze! (sorry not Sytzke).

Thanks Astrid for the great help ! Sytze is living in Canada, so I don't know how well you understand Dutch Sytze ? ;)

Ah!!! Thank you Bea. Sytzes first name mislead me! :D And his message in Dutch too! Ahahaha!

Your firstname sounds very Dutch, Sytze.:)  Well I keep it to (my Dutch-) English then.(Apologizing for spelling and language mistakes!)

For your info: Adding to my link about WieWasWie somewhere below, the site can be set to English Sytze - WhoWasWho. Although the original documents can't of course.

Please tell us a little about your skills in Dutch please so we can and know how much we can help you on reading Dutch. Just tell us if you need translation help. Besides the old documents are hard to read, even for us Dutchies, it might be even harder to translate for you.

Sytze we can find your family easily back. But I hope you like to learn it to find yourself. That is much more fun! Enjoy!

Feel just free at asking anything.

A.

Haha yes same here Astrid, and his name is Dutch, he has added some info to his Bio, otherwise I still would have thought he was Dutch ;)
Translate the info about WieWasWie. Tried to find Flevoland at the WieWasWie  English settings. No Flevoland to choose there..... Strange............

Added some more info about Urk as it is an extraordinary village/former island. Just hope we don t provided too much info Sytze! :)

Night for now. Late Netherlands here.

A.
Thanks for all your wonderful help Astrid and sleep well. And Sytze I noticed the privacy levels now all are set to yellow for them, which means only you can edit or add parents or siblings for them, so if you want help or to make it possible for others to add some profiles for parents or add sources, it's best to set the privacy levels for them to open (if they don't need to be yellow because of privacy issues of course). Only if profiles are open people can collaborate and work on them or add sources for you to their Bio's, all other privacy levels will mean people will have to be added to the trusted list before they can help.. ;)
I immigrated to Canada when i was three and a half but my parents never stopped speaking dutch, thus i can talk read and write dutch.

Wauw Wayne you're good at this, thanks for your wonderful help !
This is interesting because i believe the name Romkes comes up in another family tree. I'd be surprised if this turned into another situation of when i found out that one of my ancestors wives remartied to another one of my ancestors brother.

  Thank you

Hello Sytze,

Your name origins from Friesland in The Netherlands.

Personally I mainly use the Dutch websites http://www.wiewaswie.nl and http://www.openarch.nl. The first has data about 130 million people in The Netherlands and the second over 161 Million. Both sites give you links to the sources. I entered Riekelt Bos in the second one and the site came, among others, with the following page ( https://www.openarch.nl/show.php?archive=nle&identifier=6c7b19ee-3ef5-4fe7-bdaf-02154c1be062&lang=nl). One this page you will find links to related pages etc. I hope you can use this information.
Regards,

Johan
