I am looking for information about my paternal grandmother Helen Slater Nix of Staten Island NY

Question

She was married to Patrick Nix, my grandfather and had one son my father, Edward Robert Nix born who passed away in May 1999. I know that she died from tuberculosis at Seaview Hospital when my father was about 4 years old . She had a sister named Paula.

Can you say Helen and Patrick's birth years and marriage year? What state, county and or city were they born in and married in?

Hello Karen,  I think it would be easier if you search the records, at no charge, at http://familysearch.org for your paternal grandmother, Helen Slater Nix, Patrick Nix, Edward Robert Nix, and Paula Nix.  For example, I found at least six Helen Slater, a daughter, in several census whose birthdates ranged between 1888 and 1900 in New York, but I don't know which one.  I wish you the best of luck!

Hi Karen.  I've got answers on your grandmother HELEN SLATER NIX.  Your DNA helped me solve a mystery. You share matches with Crews and Formica families. Amy Crews married a Mr. Formica, Paul Crews is her brother. Their mother was Alma Slater/Schlater. Alma had sisters Dorothy, Paula and Josephine. I saw your message online, and then you showed up on the Crews Formica matches. My friend shares matches with you and the Crews/Formica line, and we could never figure out if she was related to the Crews or Slater line. Your DNA is the answer to that question if this is all correct. Also found your Dorothy on the 1940 census, she was hospitalized and died in 1941.
