Researching Massey at Denfield, Rostherne,= Oliver Massey , shown on visitation of cheshire 1580, No dates, no wife. Father of William Massey of Denfield, married Alice/Ann, a daughter of either Sir William Booth or George Booth.?

Parish records usually go back too 1545,Further back it is Wills and

Bishops records.The problem is there are many people with same names in the same area.

You won't find parish records, but since he was a knight you should be able to find other records. Once you go prior to the late 15C you need to start working in a different way. Wills, inquisitions post mortem, land records, manor rolls, basically things you won't get from Ancestry or Findmypast. You become a real researcher! My first suggestion is to cast a broad net with Google; there'll be a lot of dross but some nuggets will come up.
