Why are there so many unlocked duplicate profiles of people born in teh 1820's

According to the new policy, profiles of people born over 150 years ago must be open.

One example is Susannah Caudill.  Caudill-323 is green locked and [[Caudill-780]] is yellow locked.  The third identical one[ [Caudill-833]]  is open.

Her husband, James Dixon [[Dixon-6179]] is yellow locked and not linked to his wife [[Caudill-780]] showing an identical child in both profiles.  The green-locked profile for James Dixon is [[Dixon-2731]]

With all the locked profiles, it's hard to merge all the duplicates.

I just initiated another merge of James Dixon's mother, Susannah B. Profitt/Profitt, so that merger needs to take place before the merger of the two profiles of James Dixon.

I am aware that not every profile manager realizes the change in the policy for opening up profiles on persons born over 150 years ago.  The former policy was all profiles over 200 years old had to be opened.  In any case, green-locked and yellow-locked privacy on profiles hampers proper merging on duplicates.

Have you tried communicating with the profile manager(s) of the locked duplicates? Part of the problem may be that at least two of the profiles have no dates. It will take a bit of time before they can be unlocked by the Admin Team if the profile manager does not do it.

The first thing I always do with a problem like this is communicate. The PM may not be aware of the problem.

I have sent wiki mails out to the managers of the unopened profiles, but I don't think that these four unopened profiles are the only ones that need to be fixed.

WikiTree Admin has a plan for seeing that these profiles are opened. It will take a little bit of time to roll it out, but they will be eventually open.
