I have created Lysabeth Janse Rinckhout's profile and am requesting permission to attach her as wife of Carel Hanse Toll, an NNS PPP. Thanks.

I added the spouse connection, based on sources
presented here and in the profile.

I note that the source citations in the profile appear to be hyperlinks, but the links don't go anywhere. Are they all intended to go to the Brouwer database website, or were they intended to go to the specific sources cited in the individual footnotes?

In general I do not use external hyperlinks in my profile. Those are temporary Internet addresses that are always subject to change. It then becomes a maintenance nightmare to keep profiles up-to-date. Rather, I provide enough information in the source document description that a researcher can do an Internet search to find the current address of the information.

My source documents are listed under Sources, each  with a bolded name tag identifier. Those links you see are local to the profile. The footnote number is a link to a footnote, which identifies which source is used by name tag and then tells where in that source the data is found, vol:page.

In some cases, sources were found identified within another compilation source, in which case both sources are listed. The primary source of the data has its name tag bolded. The source of the source will not use a bolded tag.

I am not particularly concerned about the absence of hyperlinks (although I do think they are helpful to readers), but I am concerned about lack of clarity on sourcing. When your footnote says (for example) "Chester; Hoffman", are you citing Chester or Hoffman? And I'm further confused by the fact that the hyperlinks take me to the exact same page view where I started.

Error in Chester source declaration. I fixed it. Thanks!!

When a footnote appears as two source tags, (e.g. Chester; Kelly), the first tag is not bolded. It refers to the compilation source that I used. The bolded tag is the author of the source cited by Chester. I attempt to acknowledge both authors. Both tags are links that take you to the identified source declaration. In most citations where a compilation is not involved, there will only be a single bolded tag link.

Ellen, I changed the notation from Chester; Kelly to Chester->Kelly, to perhaps help visualize that Chester refers to Kelly. Thanks for looking over these profiles for me. More eyes makes better product.

Thanks for explaining. Unfortunately, your shorthand isn't going to make sense to everyone who reads the profiles you've edited. Maybe I'm just showing my age, but i think words are more effective than symbols.

The format I'm most accustomed to seeing for that situation is "Chester, citing Kelly".
OK. I'll go with that. Thanks.
Done. A much better solution. Thanks again. Weldon
