We brought on Paul Bech to specifically help with this problem.
Right now, this weekend actually, we're working on an improvement to the UPM system. Soon you'll be able to submit an "Open Profile Request" e-mail.
This won't reduce the amount of work that all this involves. It's a shame that so many people dumped their genealogical junk here and left it for others to clean up. However, this should make clean-up work just a little bit smoother.
