Question

My ancestor John Dawson 1826-1890 was the child of Margaret Burns and his dad was a Den Dawson

Would it be possible that his father was Jeremiah Dawson

It's possible, it's also not possible.  I would try to contact the manager of the FindaGrave profile and see why she is sure that his father was Jeremiah.

Your ancestor died in 1890 and the John Dawson buried in York county SC, died in 1835.  Having the same mother's name may be a coincidence.  Was your John Dawson from York county as well?
