I wanted to share this family photo of my grandfather Hugh Oxford with the community. Location: Taylorsville, North Carolina.  Papaw taught me the value of hard work and family values.  While working on his farm between the ages of 12-16, I earned my first year of college tuition.  He was a farmer and owner of a prize-winning dairy herd.  Active in politics, as a Democrat, he was Chairman of the Alexander County Board of Commissioners. He voted the straight party line until 1960.  As a Deacon in his Baptist Church, he abandoned his party and voted for Richard M. Nixon for President on the premise that with Kennedy, the Pope might run the White House.
