Anyone able to find more about Alice? [closed]

Would you like to help solve a century old mystery?

I am researching a DNA connection and think it is possible that Alice McGlothin is the birth mother of my ancestor Roy Reynolds Johnson.

A letter that my great great grandfather Roy Johnson received from his adopted aunt, Leona Dalton, gave some information that may match Alice as his birth mother. She wrote "your father's name was Reynolds your mother's first name was Alice, she having married a second time a man by the name of House. You had 2 half brothers one named Alfred."

In the 1910 Census his name was listed as Roy Reynolds Dalton, later his name appeared as Roy Johnson (the name he had at death).

Do you know anything of this Alice? There does not appear to be many other sources that I can find yet.

WikiTree profile: Alice Reynolds
closed with the note: Signs point to Roy's mother being Alice (Jones) Reynolds House and not Alice McGlothin.

Quite a mystery you have there!

Stop me if you've already seen the following...

I found an image of her death certificate on Ancestry.  The informant is listed as Mrs. Elizabeth Crerar, address in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Does that name ring a bell?.

Also found what appears to be the family's 1900 census record.  Alice is listed, age 15.  Looks like this would've been two years before Roy's birth in Oklahoma.

Thanks Vicky for looking. I had seen the death certificate (it was the only source I had of her existence until that census record) but have not followed up on the informant yet. Unfortunately, I don't expect anything to ring a bell, but hope that if I fill in the holes of the descendants of Alice's parents, I may be able to locate another DNA relative to cement that this is the most explainable option.

Hello Ron,

Have you asked your 2nd cousin, once removed https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Cress-379 to add her 23andMe results to GEDmatch?

Sincerely, Peter

Thanks Peter. She has placed hers on there. The kit# is M944367 on GEDmatch. I am hoping that the segment we share will help point to a shared relative. Unfortunately, I haven't yet found an MCRA for the other kits that match us both.
