Can you add the sources that prove these are the same person into the comments on the profiles?   Then I will do the merge.

 

While they both have sons named William...the dates are very different on the two Williams.

Thanks Robin. I'll have a look at it and see what I can find.
The pre 1500 profile will only allow Managers like yourself to add to profile so I was unable to add my observations to one of them. Sorry.
Update: I have looked closely at the profiles. Observations as follows.

Profile (1) William, son of Thomas (Payne-1563) was born ABOUT 1340, which would make his Father Thomas 13 years old, so I think William’s Birthdate is a ‘guesstimate’ and highly unlikely.

Profile (2) William, son of Thomas (Payne-1109) was born 1347, making his father Thomas 20 yrs old and more likely.

In reference to Tom’s observation below: On Thomas' (Payne-1563) profile, he has 2 sons, William born 1347 and Thomas born 1363 but can’t I find a brother Thomas (born in 1827) on Thomas' other profile (Payne-1109). There is only the son William (born 1340.

I don’t have sources as it was a Pending Merge that had been there a while and have no first hand knowledge of the family; but by looking at each profile information, it would appear that Thomas is the same person on both profiles, if one considers the son William (Payne-291) birthdate to be a guess and William (Payne-1114) to be closer to accurate.

They each have a son Thomas, but one son was born 1337, the other in 1363,a generation apart. 

Do NOT merge the fathers yet.

Hi Tom, I have looked at the profiles and this is my observation. Please note my full reply to Robin.

On Thomas' (Payne-1563) profile, he has 2 sons, William born 1347 and Thomas born 1363 but can’t I find a brother Thomas (born in 1827) on Thomas' other profile (Payne-1109). You may have been confusing the father, Thomas, with the younger son Thomas, as Dad was born c1327. There is only the son William (born 1340 making his Dad 13yr.

It would appear the Father is the same. There is a gap of about 16 years between sons William and Thomas but there may have been other unrecorded children or some other reason for that. Thanks, Eileen

No do not merge they are not the same, Working on this and have found some info but not enough to make changes, they are related, found wives for them.
