Still trying to find out who Timothy Bernard Desmond's mother is?

Greetings

So after a long time I'm still trying to find out who Timothy Bernard Desmond's mother is. Catherine Connolly is written down, but marked as unsure as I don't believe that to be his actual mother. Since no records can prove the relationship of her to both Timothy and Richard

I've found out more information on Timothy that may help in researching this case.

Timothy Bernard Desmond was born on 11 April 1847 in Queenstown, Cork, Ireland (Now known as Cobh, Cork, Ireland) to Richard Desmond who was born between 1915 and 1829 according to various records.

Both Timothy and Richard were in the Navy, which suggests his baptism record could be in the navy/army records instead of the regular records. However I do not know how to access these, does anyone have access to them or know how to get access?

I also discovered that Timothy has 4 other siblings, but I do not know their names or genders, however, I know one died in infancy. This should help a little as well in confirming the mother's name if we find it.

Richard and Timothy moved to England when Timothy was a young teenager. It is assumed his siblings and mother stayed in Ireland and probably passed away there.

So if I got this right, we are looking for a woman married to Richard Desmond who had 5 children, one named Timothy Bernard Desmond in Queenstown, Cork, Ireland (Now known as Cobh, Cork, Ireland) We are assuming she never left Ireland and possibly her other 4 children as well, but we probably shouldn't rule that out apart from the one that died in infancy.

I'm betting BRIDGET CORCORAN.

It appears that COBH R.C. parish (NLI 04987/02) has some relevant baptisms (with sponsor's names):

(Page 123) Timothy Desmond bap. 11APR1847
  Father: Richard, Mother: BRIDGET CORCORAN

(Page 140) Richard Desmond bap. 27JAN1850
  Father: Richard, Mother: BRIDGET CORCORAN

AND

COBH R.C. parish (NLI 04987/05) has a relevant marriage (with witness' names):

(Page 60) Richard Desmond & Bridget Corcoran  07JAN1844

AND, just for the sake of looking:
COBH R.C. parish (NLI 04986/05) has a relevant baptism (with sponsor's names):

(Page 12) Richard Desmond bap. 08FEB1815
Father: TIMOTHY DESMOND, Mother: JULIA LINEHAN

I'll assume you know how to access the NLI parish register images.

Cheers,

Igor

Thank you so much for your help! This makes a lot of sense and the dates and places make sense!

I think I do. Thank you again Igor :)
We do have Desmonds in our tree and they are from Cork, I'll check with Peter as he knows much more about his family then I do..the name that springs to mind is Mary Desmond and I think she was married to a Coakley from Cork.

The National Library is registers.nli.ie. From the home page, select a parish (i.e. COBH).

Hope the data lines up.
