Why doesn't my recently created free-space source tagged "Walker" appear on the "Walker Genealogy" page?

Why doesn't my recently created free-space source tagged "Walker" appear on the "Walker Genealogy" page?

I thought I set it up correctly but now it's not showing up!

When I tried to enter the URL below my question would not post saying that  the profile doesn't exist:

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Memorial_of_the_Walkers_of_the_Old_Plymouth_colony_embracing_genealogical_and_biographical_sketches_of_James%2C_of_Taunton%3B_Philip%2C_of_Rehoboth%3B_William_of_Eastham%3B_John%2C_of_Marshfield%3B_Thomas%2C_of_Bristol%3B_and_of_their_descendants_from_1620_to_1860

This link was replaced with a link to a profile having a shorter title in hopes of correcting a potential:

Hello, Pat!

If you are trying to link to this page - http://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/WALKER - maybe your free-space URL is too long to display.

Another possibility is that there is a time lag for displaying your page.

I would create another free-space with a MUCH shorter name and see if it will link to the Walker genealogy page.
Did a quick check of my free-spaces; some appear, some don't; some surname pages didn't even have any listed even though I have a free-space page for the surname...

It may just be a hit-or-miss thing!
Linda, thanks for the suggestions. I tried a shorter name:

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Walkers_of_the_Old_Plymouth_colony

It's not working yet. Maybe this is a time lag issue.

There are 4 links for free-space profiles on the "Walker Genealogy" page, btw your link was correct. 2 of the links work and appear to be set up the same as mine, however, the other 2 are broken links.

Pat
"Space:Walkers of the Old Plymouth Colony" is included on the "Space:Sources-FamilyGenealogies" page

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Sources-Family_Genealogies  (just contacted profile mgr about situation)

which is suppose to link to the "WALKER Genealogy" page.

This is my first source profile. Is this how your free-spaces are set up?

Pat, I am confused by what you mean by "Walker Genealogy" page. If you are talking about this page: http://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Walker, it may never show up there. That page is limited to only showing a few free-space pages, it will not show all of them. (That has been my experience in the past.)

Rick,

I must have misunderstood I thought that they "W"ould appear. Hey I was only one letter off! :)

"As someone mentioned in G2G, Tags and Categories are two different things. If you Tag it with "Walker" it will not be included in the Category "Walker Genealogy".

There is no page called: "Category:Walker Genealogy"

There are 4 postings on the WALKER Genealogy page [http://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Walker], 2 of them are tagged with "Walker" and the other 2 are broken links. Only 1 of them has anything of use to Walker's.

I know this may be confusing. Let me know if you still have questions.

Yes it is confusing.

Perhaps a tab for related free-spaces could be added to the genealogy/surname database, similar to the watchlist database?
Pat,

Ok, maybe I understand now. I also assumed that your free-space page would appear on the WALKER Genealogy page. Some Tagged free-space pages do, but only a few of them. I don't know why there is a limit, but the limit appears to only be 3 or 4.

The fact that some of these links are broken is strange. I have no explanation why they would be included in the list. I assume this is a bug in the WikiTree system. If the broken links were removed your page may show up.

Some of the confusion has been the name of the page called "Walker Genealogy". Yes, that is the title shown on the page, but most(?) people would call it the "Walker Surname Search Results page".

I don't know how to do a search to see everything that is tagged with the "Walker" Tag. If there is a way, I haven't found it yet.
Lindy, I haven't a clue how that would work. There are resources available on WikiTree that are being under utilized because most do not know about them. It would be beneficial to have an easy way for locating those under utilized resources. A link on the "(INSERT SURNAME) Genealogy" aka "(INSERT SURNAME) Surname Search Results page" to view all (INSERT SURNAME) free-space profiles would be very useful.

Rick, Now it's beginning to make sense! The "Walker Genealogy" aka "Walker Surname Search Results page" is not giving the results that we expected. The last listing in the “Genealogist-to-Genealogist (G2G) Forum posts” is a link for View all WALKER questions. That would be useful to have for the free-space profiles.

TECHs: Is it possible to put that link on the "(INSERT SURNAME) Genealogy" aka "(INSERT SURNAME) Surname Search Results page"? It would be nice to have it grouped by the category that it's attached to. That way if your looking for sources for a particular surname they are easily available.

Think you need something like:

[[Category:Walker Genealogy]]

Tags are more like search keywords.

That is not a valid category! I'm using Space:Sources-Family Genealogies under [[Category:Source]].
