JOHN MCDOUGALL , WW2, but which Regiment?

Looking for suggestion for finding out which regiment my granddad was with as I haven't any information for that branch of my tree after him, and all I know is he was Born in Glagsow , 2nd June 1919 and remember seeing a big mirrored frame hang above the bed with him in army uniform  at start of ww2 his name was John McDougall and at that time he was single as didn't marry my gran until 1949   Johns parents were Robert McDougall and Margaret Cousins MCDOUGALL married 25-01-1918

Did John have a middle name,what was your grandmother maiden name,I

understand if you do not want to.Was that Glasgow,Lanarkshire.

What is your grand mother's name.  Are we looking in KY?  Do you know what branch he served in?  Can you describe the uniform?  Need a little more to go on...

Hi Thank you for the reply My Grans name was williamina Dolan and she married John McDougall on 25th November 1949 , I dont think Granda had a middle name though can't say with 100% accuracy am afraid . The hat as far as i recall was like a side hat it wasnt peaked , Glasgow Lanarkshire Scotland they lived mostly around Govan, Gorbals , Hutchsontown, areas Granda had brothers Alan and Robert MCDOUGALL and also older siblings Alec and Anna Campbell.. I know this is still vague but everything in terms of pics aand documents etc was destroyed in a fire. My grandad also worked in Lewis department store for 20 odd years (irellevant sory)
