Shared Photo: Nicholas and Anna Jacobs at Home

I wanted to share this family photo of my GG grandmother, Anna Jacobs and her husband Nicholas Jacobs. Immigrants from Germany, they traveled from Minnesota to Washington State by wagon train in 1867. The boy in the background was the last of 14 children, Leo. He suffered from a disability believed to be Down's Syndrome and died just a few years after this photo was taken. The images on the wall in the upper left of the photo are of two of their deceased children. They were placed in a slumbering pose and photographed after they died, which was a common practice at the time. Location: Uniontown, Washington. Date: 1885-1890.
