Could she have emigrated to NZ? Maybe why you could not find detail.

Question

I have details of Charles Potts whose mother is listed on his death cert as Helen Jane Waters. Charles was born Cole Rochester, Kent England and at his time of death in 1924 had lived in NZ for 45 years. His father Joseph Potts was listed as a builder.

Charles mother, Helen Jane Waters, appears to have married Joseph Potts on the 29th September 1840. "England Marriages, 1538–1973 ," database, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NK94-4DQ : accessed 20 May 2016), Joseph Potts and Hellen Jane Waters, 29 Sep 1840; citing Rye, Sussex, England, reference ; FHL microfilm 1,067,290. That record gives Edmund as her father and later census records (1851 & 1861) show her year of birth to be about 1823. There is no indication that Helen Potts died in New Zealand or Victoria.

Charles died 6th November 1924 according to the affidavit in his will.
