I started a profile for her:

Perhaps some of you would help connect her to The Tree.

<EDIT: Added Notables Tag>

Shouldn't her first name be Anna, not Anne?
Wikipedia says Anne Marie.

Ooops. I need new glasses. You're right. It's Anna. I swear... I looked at that entry multiple times...
Wikipedia gives some clues; it names her paternal grandparents as James Duke and Katness O'Hara-- and that they emigrated from County Longford, Ireland.

i created profiles for them, and I think I found a good candidate:

* on a 1904 passenger list (James, 24, unmarried, headed to his sister's house in Brooklyn

* in the 1910 and 1920 census records, he's marrked to a Catherine/Katherine (not unreasonable for a "Katness"); in the 1920 census, there's a son John, b 1914, who might be Patty's father.
Do we need separate profiles for Patty and Cathy?
What a crazy pair! Identical cousins all the way.
heh heh.
I've connected her to 2 of her husbands. 2 more to add. And if you believe you can connect her through John Astin (who is also a Notable), you'll need to be on the trusted list to improve his profile. And if you want to be on Director Harry Falk's trusted list, let me know and I can add you.

Thanks!
Thanks, Scott!
One more spouse identified and created. I started work on John Astin's family, and there are some private profiles that will need to be unlocked in order to connect him to his family. The PM has not been online since 2012, but I'll wait to see if she responds before putting out the unresponsive PM form. Once I can get into these profiles and make appropriate merges, we'll see who's missing and how we can possibly connect her through his family.

In the meantime, I've got some info to work on with Michael Tell - we'll see if something jumps out from his family.
Thanks, Scott.

I'm also hoping someone will work on the Duke lineage. I've unfortunately run out of time.
I took a quick glance at the data and may be able to add a bit more. Let me see what my availability looks like tonight and I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I added a few more to the Duke side - not many clues to go from, but at least there are more family members. I think I was able to find all her aunts and uncles for the most part.
Awesome. Thanks Scott.

I should be connected to her as family.  Grew up watching her.  I am still trying to figure out how all the works.  As I understand it, we cannot just post some random photo off the internet.  Not sure what I could do to help.  I am going to watch this though.  Will be interesting.  Hopefully, I will learn something.

In general, if the picture is public domain and has documentation to prove it, then it can be posted to the profile. The trick is finding an appropriate photo that isn't copyrighted by some press corp or by one of her previous employers or taken by a private photographer who would object to the usage. Ideally the photo should be taken by yourself, but with Notables, this is very rare. In most cases, wikipedia has a photo that they've documented under the fair use clause, and we can also use it under the same, but even then, I always read the specific requirements they put forth (sometimes you can just use it - other times you are required to post its origin or who took it and where) so that we're covered.

It's all about making sure we're being fair to those who own the photos, and giving them proper credit or asking permission and receiving it, if we need to.

Thanks, Jillaine! I always liked Patty Duke, in the Helen Keller stories and in The Patty Duke Show.

Like Patty and her "cousin", we think alike!

Your cousin,

Sharon

OK - so I've started the unresponsive profile manager process for John Astin's family - one profile manager created his tree in 2012 and then left WikiTree, so hopefully when these profiles are freed up, I can merge John with John and then see what family is there and open up the rest for editing. I suspect our best chance of connecting her will be through him.

Connection combat? Patty Duke to Helen Keller, and also Anne Bancroft connecting to Anne Sullivan?

Scott - I also want to publicly thank you for all of your hard work on the Notables project.

I have John Astin's duplicate profile now, and a merge requested. I was able to attach his parents, who are already connected to the tree.

So after tonight's update, Patty should be connected to the tree.
