Henry Keeler Whitmore, was born in Drummondsville, Canada.  1821 passed away in 1902  Dubuque, IA.  His father fought in the revolutionary war under General Scott in battle of Lundy lane.

They moved to Ohio after their mother died. Notes from my Dad's cousin just say they were very young.   When Henry was 14 yrs old his  father drown after their boat was stolen.  Doesn't say what river. His body was found the next day around 1836-1837. His sister was older and ran off and married.  Henry and his brother age 12 yr left with settlors moving west and made it to Galena, IL. His brother got a job at a farm and Henry did not ask him the name of the people that were employing his brother so they were separated. Henry at  became an apprentice at on the Ione a steamboat.  He ended up being a steamboat operator until he was past 70 yrs
