I wanted to share this family photo of John Hunter with the community. Although it took us a long time to figure out that the anecdotal family history had incorrectly stated the name of the town in Ireland that he was from, John Hunter is now "pinned" down to County Tyrone in northern Ireland. This photo not only represents years of family detective work, but he represents the story of all the "pioneers" and their stories who settled Pennsylvania. The interesting personality quirks, the beliefs and superstitions, the desire to record the family history before it got lost (and in so doing, making a few errors)--all a part of what being family is about. This is also what makes the searching (and finding) so rewarding. To my triple-great grandfather, John, and to his wife Mary, whose sister Ann may very well have seen the fairies and taken their gold, while driving home the cows in Ireland!
