Have you seen the Citation Needed template?

WikiTree now has its very own Citation Needed template!

In the biography of a profile, if you see a statement that has no source associated with it, you can now put {{Citation needed}} after the sentence. This makes [citation needed] appear in superscript, drawing attention to the unsourced statement. I might write a help page about this, and make the [citation needed] link to it. I hope people find this helpful!

Coming soon: Templates for source citations! I've requested Evidence Explained by Elizabeth Shown Mills at the library, and will soon be writing templates for citing some common sources. That'll make it easy to create properly formatted footnotes!

Sounds like great stuff! Thanks!
Go LL!
That's great! How about adding some color - I find red catches peoples attention!

Cool!

So the source citation templates, will it be something that will automate the following? Now if I want to cite the DGFA, I go the the page I created for it:

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/DGFA

...and the lines following "For easy cut'n'pasting..." are the <nowiki> version of the source to add the wiki formatted citation with link and italics and such.

A shorhand for doing that would be so cool!

Eugene: If I add a link to it, it'll appear green by default. If that's not visible enough, I could change that to a different colour.

Roland: At the very least, it would allow you to replace that with a template that you have to put the title, author, etc. into, and it would do the formatting for you. But for sources like the DGFA that are used a lot, we could even make a template just for that book that would let you just plug it in.
Thanks, Lianne!

Love the citation template . Thanks

I am combing through Evidence Explained for the past month . Do I have a lot ot re-do  ..........

What I meant was it would be nice to see [citation needed] show up in a colour other than black if possible. I planted ot in a lengthy bibliography and it got a little lost.

Perhaps using a <blink> tag? ;)

Eugene: Yeah, that's what I meant. If I make the [citation needed] into a link, it will be green, but I could also use html to make it a different colour.

Roland: lol! That would sure encourage people to add some sources! :P

Oh my... does <blink>blink</blink> still work?
It depends on the browser. It's not universally supported. I just checked though and it does indeed work in the latest Firefox!
Just used the citation template in Chrome and it was fine .
Lianne, Great! (as usual).

Excellent with the template {{Citation needed}} that is a great way of pointing out weakness in the Genealogy process....

I also would like to more follow GPS and have templates flagging the profile ==>

  1. Reasonably exhaustive research has been conducted.

    {{GPS: More research needed}}

  2. Each statement of fact has a complete and accurate source citation.

    {{GPS: Citation not accurate}} e.g just pointing on a family tree at Ancestry

  3. The evidence is reliable, and has been skillfully correlated and interpreted.

    {{GPS: Correlation needed| fact 1 and source 2 is not correlated.... }}

  4. Any contradictory evidence has been resolved.

  5. The conclusion has been soundly reasoned and coherently written.

    {{GPS: Conclusion}}
    to signal that this section is a conclusion
    {{GPS: Conclusion needed}}
    to signal that a conclusion is needed

    {{GPS: Comply}}
    to signal this profile complies GPS and please review it

In Sweden we have a source http://www.arkivdigital.net where we just use CTRL+C and get a ciattion like this
Bo AIIa:1 (1896-1900) Image 2020 / page 191 (AID: v145685.b2020.s191, NAD: SE/ULA/10125)

Question A:Is there a possibility to use that as input to a template?!?!? and get a better format citation e.g. with links
http://www.arkivdigital.se/aid/show/v145685.b2020.s191
with a link to Arkiv Digital http://www.arkivdigital.net

Question B: Who can create a template?
