Looking for 3rd Great Grandparents in Germany

Question

Ernest Hass or Hasse, Augusta (maiden name not known)

I don't have a lot of information on them.  My 2nd Great Grandfather (August Hass, or Hasse) emigrated from Germany with his wife (Augusta "Miller" Hasse) and 6 children in 1900.

I have a copy of his DOJ Registration Affidavit of Alien Enemy which has some good information on himself, but very little on his parents other than names, but not mother's maiden name (Ernest Hass and Augusta Hass).  I understand thaat they spoke very little English, so information on the form may not be very accurate,

Thanks, but I was looking for Ernest and Augusta (maiden name not known) who, to the best of my knowledge, remained in Germany.  Best guess on birth dates would be 1820s or 1830s.  Maybe I didn't ask the question correctly.

August and Augusta must be common first names as 3 of the links provided refer to a family in Alpena, Michigan and the other, Joliet, Illinois.  My 2nd great grandparents (August Hasse and Augusta "Miller" Hasse) settled in Owosso, Michigan.

I have some records for most of the family in Michigan, some from family members and some from internet searches.  Almost nothing beyond August and Augusta.

There are a couple there that fit the time frame, but with almost zero info on him it's hard to tell.

Might be better to work with August and go backward, I know his birth and death dates from a copy of his death certificate, which does not list mother or father. Have not found a birth record.  Mother and father names (first names only) come from his DOJ Registration Affidavit of Alien Enemy.

August was born 12 March 1853 in Germany, died 5 April 1930 in Owosso, Michigan.  Affidavit says place of birth is Vantarshagen, but searches come up empty for the place.

Out of the search results Venzlaffshagen looks the most promising. Today this is Więcław in Poland. Sadly the churchbooks for Venzlaffshagen for the timeframe you need have been lost, most likely during WWII.
