Hi, I'm chasing up a lead and not getting very far. I'm trying to find out William Vincent's children. I don't have his date of birth. His brother was Henry Vincent, 6th Baronet Stoke D'Abernon.

William married the daughter of a Rev. Doctor Warren. Whether Warren is the first or last name, I'm assuming it's the last name at this stage?

What was the Rev's daughter's name.

And most importantly, if William had three children: Arthur, William Jr...what was the third child's name? Any one have any information on this? Sorry, it's a bit vague. We're talking 1600s and while there's a wealth of information on the Vincents of Stoke-D'Abernon. They seem to focus on the actual Baronets. William, was apparently passed up and the next baronet was Henry's son. Henry himself passed in Jan 10 1757.

Betham's Baronetage of England doesn't give his wife's name, but does say that she was the daughter of Rev. Dr. Warren of Marden in Hertfordshire.  It names four children; William, Arthur, Diana and Catharine.

Interestingly William's cousin, Catharine, daughter of Sir Anthony Vincent, married Rev. Dr. Warren of Marden in Hertfordshire, so possibly William married his (first cousin, once removed?) depending on whether Catharine was the only wife of Rev. Warren

I found a record on FamilySearch for the birth and christening of William Vincent, son of Francis Vincent and Rebeccah at Stoke D'Abernon, Surrey, England here https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J93S-CXC

Birth 07 March 1690 and christening 08 March 1690

Have a look at the notes for this profile

The inquest into who should inherit the Barony of Bray in 1839 cited below gives a lot of detail on this family because they were attempting to find all the possible living claimants to the title.  As far as I understand it, the descendants of Catherine Vincent would have had a claim because she was the only daughter  of Anthony Vincent of Stoke Dabernon. Although as a female she couldn't inherit her father's title, a title can be passed through a female. Part of inquiry is to show that  she had no living descendants. (A Sir Francis Vincent, presumably a descendent of  Sir Henry Vincent or a later male heir was one of the known co-heirs to this title)

Dr Richard Warren  was the son of Richard Warren of Marden,Tewin Hertfordshire and was married to Catherine Vincent. Dr Warren died and Catherine remarried ,  becoming the 2nd wife of  William Gardiner . The following year 1696, she in turn died,  aged 29 .  Her memorial at Great Hadnam  refers to her as being the only daughter of G Anthony Vincent of Stoke Dabernon.

Dr Warren predeceased his father and  before his children were of age.The couples  eldest son, Richard inherited Marden on his grandfather's death.  The other children at the time of his death appear to be Vincent,  who became a vicar in Devon, Ann who died at aged 15 and Catherine. (there was also a Thomas who is presumed to have died young)

If ,as it appears to be,  this is the  Catherine Warren  that married William Vincent., they had a daughter Catherine who married and also had a daughter. The daughter then  died in the workhouse without issue.

"Sir Harris Nicholas stated, That the next Point respected (No. 1O2.)Catherine, the daughter of William Vincent and Catherine Warren, the Wife of Hewitt Clarkson; that strong Evidence had been given to show that there was only One Child of that Marriage, and that she died a Pauper in the Workhouse; and he was now enabled to produce a first Cousin once removed of Catherine Clarkson, who would prove that she died without Issue"

See for enquiry for detail (unfortunately it  doesn't contain  the pedigree containing the 102 referred to )

I cannot find any mention of any other children of this couple in the enquiry(there is an Arthur Warren and a William Warren who I think  would have been children of Richard Warren because Vincent's daughters are mentioned. They both also died without issue) If   Catherine Warren and William Vincent had children in addition to  Catherine,  then presumably they would have been mentioned.(unless they had died young and it was accepted that they had died without issue) Otherwise their descendants would also have been  possible claimants. I can't find any mention of other children(I might have missed it so please check)

I sincerely thank you for your reply and investigation. My cousin is actually the one that is suggesting we might related because of something one of our relatives said to him decades ago about being descendants of the Vincents of Stoke-D'Abernon. My cousin has been looking at this on and off for years and dismissed it, I think, or let it fall to the back of his mind because we couldn't find the link and it appeared that there was no male heir left that matched ours. Henry Dormer Vincent is not the Henry Vincent I'm chasing, although I didn't allude to that in my post here. He was looking at William, I suppose because William was side-lined and because we have some repeating names in the family line.

We're at the brick wall and I'm hoping a DNA test will help with maybe finding a link to somewhere (anywhere at this point), but awaiting results. I do sincerely appreciate your time in posting the information in depth. As a migraine sufferer, as of late I've had sporadic bouts of clarity and then deep clouds of confusion where I'm just not processing correctly.
Thank you for the link to the actual birth date. I appreciate that. I passed on the information you provided, which gave my cousin some food for thought. As mentioned in another comment I provided, this line of looking is being generated by him because of the brick wall we have hit. We'll see what else arises.

Re Vincents' Hi, In 1964 a cousin who was working in London was asked by his parents to go and view Stoke D'abernon and also Bridgefoot House in South Mimms. I have a page from 'The National Archives'.Will of  Arhur Vincent of Stoke D'Abernon ,Surrey. 26 Feb 1674. Catalogue Ref. PROB11/344..

Hi Denis,

Thanks for your reply. I do apologize for my late response. The information you provided indicates you might have hit a brick wall too on your Vincents? My brick wall comes from too many Henry Vincents and I'm stuck in the mid 1700s.
