Ancestors of Vincent-10716

This has been somewhat confusing for a while. I have found potential siblings, but their birth dates seem too early with a bit of a gap between.

I was always told that our Vincents came from France, so I am quite disappointed that it has so far turned out to be Wiltshire.

If anybody could find more evidence for John Vincent’s father, mother or siblings I would be very grateful!

Hi 5th cousin once removed :)

There are a lot of Vincents!

There were 4 were born in Fisherton Anger with parents James and Ann, but there didn't seem to be a John, and the dates overlap with the ones below, so it's not a case of James remarrying.

George 1812 bap 1816
Elizabeth b 1817
Mark b 1823
Charles b 1824

James and Ruth a couple of miles away in Wilton had a John, I think they are the most likely parents, but it's tricky! This John seems to be the only baptism in the area around that time:

Matilda 1817
Zaccheus 1819
Frederic 1822
John 1824
James 1827
Henry James 1831

There was a James from Wilton in the army between 1813 and 1816, so that could account for the lateness of the children.
I found a John and George Vincent living together in the 1841 census, who I think could be the same family. There are 2 other George Vincents of the same age that I can see in the area in 1841, one of which is living with parents William and Hannah. In the 1851 census I found George, son of William and Hannah still living with parents and a George married to an Eliza. Their marriage cert says that George was son of another George Vincent.

John's marriage cert says that his father is James Vincent, but there is a birth certificate with parents as William and Ann.

I'm wondering if James was "James William" and potentially went by either, as I have found this to be the case on some other relatives.
The George that was in the 1841 census married a Sarah (I haven't found a marriage). The trouble with the 1841 census is not having relationships - they might have been cousins.

Her name was Sarah Dew from the children's births.
Unfortunately that would mean getting a marriage certificate to see his father.

If you mean the William and Anne in Bradford - he was a weaver, John is still with them in 1841 and a weaver, and he wasn't born in Salisbury. Bradford is 30 miles away. I think that's the only way you can work it out is to find out what happened to any other Johns.
