Mentors Tips - Finger tip information for Newbies.

Question

When first starting on WikiTree it's good to have some basic information at your finger tips.

• Help is located on the drop-down menu's top right of every page.
• If you find a page you like and want to get back to it, bookmark it in your browser.
• If you are stumped on anything, ask a question in G2G - there are no stupid questions!
• Contact a Mentor for help by clicking on the drop down menus, top right of every page, Help > Contact a Mentor.

I really like going back and reviewing the tips etc. It is very helpful as I journey down this winding ivy-tree of mine!! Your tip for going to' Help and clicking", reminded me of the numerous times I have done exactly that. Only to have the drop down, to close back up -so rapidly - I  am never able to make a connection with it.  Over the years I have been struggling thru  (lol) I figured that the glitches would eventually be worked out. Nope, not yet!! I mention this because it is a real helpful guide on the desktop. My mobile doesn't seem to slow it (the drop down ) long enough to click on it.  Especially, Ms. Cooper,  who I recall was very helpful. I visit her page and SNAP goes that %#* drop down. So I just managed a work around.  Sorry , I digressed !

Hey Lana, the drop down on a mobile device seems to be fixed now, but I wish I'd seen this post earlier... I've never used WikiTree on a PC... always on my smartphone/phablet, and I found that by long pressing on the drop down, it pops up with "Open Link, Open in New Tab"etc. and then I click back to close the popup. Now the dropdown is opened and stays that way until I select an option or click elsewhere on the screen.

Of course, now that it's updated to fix it so you can use the drop down on a mobile device, this is not necessary... but consequently, I find my whole SOP is changed because I used to use the "My WikiTree " button with a short click to quickly go to My Nav home page, but now have to select My Nav Page from the dropdown, which often leads to a fat thumbed wrong selection "Profile" or "G2G"... sigh... guess we'll never make everyone happy huh?
Anyway, done with my incoherent rambling useless waste of time now...
