Descendants of Farrington Todd of CT & Salem, Conneaut OH

Question

In my search for ancestors of Augustus Todd, the great lakes captain and ship owner, the name Farrington Todd keeps coming up.  I am hoping that Farrington may be Augustus' father.  From there, the wikitree goes back quite far. I would also like to know Augustus' siblings.

Sorry I was not more detailed. My Augustus Todd was born in 1808 in Black Rock/Buffalo NY. He was a great lakes ship master and owner. I have nothing on his parents, but it is possible Farrington Todd was his brother - seems about right... He married Arrua Cole (b. circa 1810 in Buffalo NY - she later married a Lewis Ward and lived in Huron County OH). They had several children. Three known - Henry F. Todd (b. 1830 NY m. Sophia Bezeau), Elizabeth Todd (b. 1829 NY m. Aaron Abbey), Emma Jane Todd (b. 1833 NY m. Reuben McCartney in Lyme OH). At least two other possible children - Augustus and William. The 1840 census has him in Conneaut OH, but also in 1840 he left his first family, retired from navigation, married Sophia Hamel in Mackinac, became an innkeeper and lighthouse keeper in Mackinac and is believed to have been a Village Warden in 1848. He has at least one son from the second marriage Henry A. N. Todd, who also served as Village President. Augustus died in 1873 in Mackinaw City.

I have no wedding year for Farrington Todd or Augustus Todd, but I found it interesting that the 1820 census for Salem (Conneaut) OH is missing a page and a Ferrington Todd resided there in 1820. I also found a later census which seems to have him in PA. The family tree I found on one of the sites has Farrington born in or before 1787 - so he could possibly be my Augustus Todd's father...Still looking for Augustus' parentage.

Thanks - I will look at these. One problem is that Augustus and his son Augustus both married a Sophia. The 1850 census is Augustus the father with his wife and second family. The 1860 census appears to be Augustus the son (note the age) with both Sophia's - plus another son of the elder Augustus, William Todd - they are both lightkeepers. The 1870 census appears to be the father and both Sophia's...

Conneaut is in Ashtabula County, OH. Maybe the F as a first or a middle initial stands for Farrington. Here are Todds in Ashtabula County, Ohio.

So we have Ferrington/Farrington born in CT around 1787 and living in Waterbury CT in 1810. I have notes about a missing census page from the 1820 census for Salem Conneaut OH should a Farrington Todd residing there. Then we have him Springfield, Erie PA in 1840.

There is another family with related names In Wing, Lucas County Ohio - father and mother are Horace and Betsy and several children including Farrington, Augustus, Horace, Frederick, Clinton. This family moves into Michigan where they seem to stay. I am wondering if this Horace and my Augustus Todd are brothers, with the elder Farrington being the father. Just a guess, but my Augustus did name one of his sons Horace...

Anything to prove this possibility will be appreciated.
