Hi WikiTreers,

Just throwing this out to see what the interest level is.  Would you be interested in a project(s) centered around adoption?

I see a couple different sub possibilities here. One, for adoptees, who are trying to piece together their biological families.  Two, people with adoptions in their families who have questions on creating profiles, researching available records, etc.  That could maybe be an interest group that's part of the project.

We could also include fosters, orphans, orphan trains and so on.

What do you think?

I think it's a great idea, Eowyn. There are a lot of avenues related to this, and we know from experience in G2G that there are a lot of people out there who want/need help. Integration with the DNA project will be nice, too, as with the advance of DNA so many more adoptees have gotten major clues they didn't have access to before. I also think this will help us improve/add to our Adoption help pages and give folks who show up in G2G asking for help a nice place to go to for more answers/guidance.

YES! and what Abby said. I have SO many adoptees in my DNA matches and I don't know enough to help them. This would be a great thing. Mags
Hi

Yes, I would.  My father was adopted and, although it took me a LONG time to find those records and then trace his biological parents, it was incredibly rewarding.  Mind you, it was made even harder by the fact that I did not know my father, either.  He left when I was 2.

So, yes.  I am interested
