Do you need a new Holocaust category?

Please post an "answer" here if you need a new category in the Holocaust structure.... a camp, subcamp, massacre, ghetto, etc. (see here for examples)

Edit: if you are comfortable creating categories and have reviewed similar Holocaust categories to what you need, you are also welcome to create the new category yourself.

Hi Elaine, I think I need a category for the Białystok Ghetto.

Would you also like a category for this specific list or should I do a space page or neither?

Thanks!

You are right, I'll make the ghetto category. So we don't have transport categories right now, though it could certainly be genealogically useful. We have some space pages for French transports, but categories can be better. I'll ask in the Holocaust Project group, then G2G.

Edit: the category is made.

As I'm currently working with Flossenbürg records, I would like to ask for categories for the subcamps of Flossenbürg (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_subcamps_of_Flossenb%C3%BCrg), namely (for now): Altenhammer, Ansbach, Bayreuth, Ganacker, Happurg, Helmbrechts, Hersbruck, Johanngeorgenstadt, Leitmeritz / Litoměřice, Mittweida, Mülsen, Platting, Plauen, Schönheide, Siegmar-Schönau, Zwickau

If it is possible, a Category for each subcamp would be nice

Some of them had less than 10 people, so for people at those, that info can be mentioned within the Holocaust sticker text, so then WT plus can pick it up. Glad to make other ones.... do you have a profile for any of them?
Yes, I've encountered the following subcamps until now:

Zwickau (Abas-37), Mülsen (Ablakosz-1, Abramowicz-36), Ansbach (Abraham-2836), Plattling (Abraham-2838), Siegmar (Abramczyk-18, Abramowicz-31, Abramowicz-32, ...), Kronach-Gundelsdorf (Abramowicz-34), Schönheide (a smaller one, Abramowicz-37), Hersbruck (Adamczewski-14) and Leitermitz (Adamczyk-262 and Adamczyk-265)

Btw. Is there no category for the Lodz Ghetto? I don't seem to find one; If there is none, it would be also a good addition

Great, thanks for the details, I'll write back when it's done.

Here's the Lodz ghetto, it has the Victims & Prisoners categories. Category: Łódź Ghetto (wikitree.com)

(soon there will be a Litzmannstadt parallel cat in German, so the cat will pop up in the cat picker no matter which you type)

I made Hersbruck, will continue on the others tomorrow.
Thanks!

When you have time, I encountered a few more subcamps: Wilischthal (Abelska-1), Mittweida (Abolmazow-1), Freiberg (Hirsch-1754), Hertine (Abraham-2846), Hainichen (Abraham-2848), Nürnberg (Siemens-Schuckertwerke) (Abrahamovics-2) and Zschopau (Abrahamovits-2)

Leitmeritz and Ansbach are done. I’ll try to do more than 2 per day :-)

Edit 3 May: Mülsen, Platting, Siegmar-Schönau, and Zwickau are done.

I could use a category for the Eichberg sanatorium. I wonder if it's worth making a group of sanatoriums/clinics/etc. overall? I know there were several of them during the Nazi regime, though not all had the deaths happen on site.

Similarly, I could also use a category for Maly Trostenets, but I'll admit I'm not entirely sure whether it'd fit best under concentration camps, massacres, or some new third grouping.

These both only have a handful of profiles each to their name, but I imagine as research continues, the numbers will just continue to grow...

Sure, we already have the Maly category. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Maly_Trostenets_Camp_Victims

I'll look at the other one- do you have a profile for it yet? If not I can find/make one, just wondering.
Oh, I missed the Maly one, thanks!

And no, I don't have a profile for it yet... honestly I'm not entirely sure what that even means, I'm still pretty new to the Wiki end of things here.
