The Memories Box on the profile for McGlenchy-5 is missing. How do I add a Memories Box?

Hi David. It isn't documented at

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Memories

but experiment suggests that the box

Memories

Enter a personal reminiscence or story. Help

is only visible on a profile if you are on its Trusted List.

You could try making a request to be added to the Trusted List of the profile you are interested in (it has Open privacy). It would help the profile managers to decide their response if you included a copy of the text of the memory you would like to add.

I don't think this is accurate. I recently checked the visibility of "Memories" on an Open profile. I logged out, then looked at the profile, and the Memories section was still visible.

I'm not talking about the result of creating a memory. I'm talking about the visibility of the box used to create one. I believe that box is only visible if you're on the Trusted List.

It looks like this:

"Post new memory" box

Thanks Jim, that seems like a bit of a design fault. The profile I wish to add a memory to is the mother of a close friend who I wished to introduce to Wikitree. It turns out that both her mother and father ( and ancestors) have already been added by a fourth cousin in another continent. She and I will have to rely on the kindness of strangers to add a memory of her own mother! At least the profile is not locked so we can edit it.
if your friend is a member, she can request management of the profiles.
There is no rule against adding "memory" content to the profile text (when in doubt, stick it in Research Notes) or in a profile message. Because theres no signature on content we put in profiles, when we add personal notes to profile text, we should sign the notes (either enter the wiki-link on your profile, or use 4 tildes ~~~~ to insert an dated signature, then go back and edit it to display your name instead of your profile ID).

My personal pet peeve about "Memories" has to do with profiles where someone has used the Memories box to enter a novella-length biography, a 10-generation pedigree of the member's family, or a list of sources.

The Help page has been updated:

The Memories section does not appear on all profiles. If you are on the profile's Trusted List, the section will appear if the person was born less than 200 years ago. If you are not on the Trusted List, the section will be hidden for private profiles, and will only appear on public profiles if someone on the Trusted List has posted a memory.

Thanks for the Help page update, Jamie.

I don't think you can.  'Memories' appear on all profiles, but if the profile is Private, you will not be able to see it.  If you become a member of the Trusted List, you will.
