That search box in edit screen does not always work right for some reason.  I've had it come up zero when i know it exists and had to go to the category page to get the correct link

Sometimes it helps find things if you use the place name. I figure there are few places in the US called Newton Lower Falls and the search box for categories will display 20 hits only. So, I would enter into that search box "Mary Newton Lower". I just did that and it showed in a list of 3 categories before I even got to the word "Lower".
