My 6x ggf is James Davey. He first appears in the parish registers for Mere, Wiltshire, England on 28 Jan 1749, when his son John Davey is baptised.

Next are the baptism and burial of another son James on 3 June 1753 and 15 September 1753. James's mother Mary (maiden name unknown) is buried a few weeks before her son.

James, my 6xggf, then marries Mary Ford in Mere, on 7 October 1753, and has four more children in Mere : William (1774), Sarah (1777), Mary (1779), and John (1781).

My brickwall is in finding any previous trace of James, his origins, of his marriage to his first wife, Mary 'Unknown'.

If you have any evidence to provide earlier information, please contact me.

Many thanks,

Anthony Davey
