Shared Photo: Samuel Clay Simons Image 1

Question

This is my 3rd great grandfather; I took this photo when I went with a local group to tour the old Simons' homestead. Some distant cousins had the military stone placed there. I have found no proof that he served in the 10th Kansas, but he did serve in the home guards and the militia. Barbed wire surrounds the graves to prevent damage from cattle. The graves of Samuel and his daughter, Cynthia Jane Simons, are west of where their home once stood approximately a quarter of a mile off the road 2 1/2 miles west of Cato, Crawford County, Kansas. I took the photo around 2005.
