Foodies Connection Combat: Emeril Lagasse vs Nigella Lawson

Connection Combat this week features two celebrity chefs: American Emeril Lagasse, known for "BAM!" exclamations on his "Emeril" cooking show, and English "domestic goddess" Nigella Lawson, known for "Nigella Bites" and "Nigella Feasts". 

Here's how the game is played:

Hi -- Turns out Im 17 cousin, once removed with Emeril, and way too distant from Ngella (22 degrees, no blood), except that looking her up made me aware of a 7th great grandmother.

I followed by lines all the way back to before the 15th century, with all significant data intact until I got to John Cheney, son of John Cheney and Perin (Whitney) Cheney.  His date of death was conflicted with the bio section and by each of two sources.  Since the profile was before 1500, I consulted Mindy Silva, and don't yet know the outcome.  The balance of the path to Robert Whitney (1340-1402) looks OK , but I am not conversant in sourcing that early, nor am I permitted to, so I'm counting myself as done.  

Thanks for the fun.  My husband worships Emeril and is tickled to be married to his 17th cousin, once removed. But he now wants to know why he's doing all the cooking,
