There's an article about this William Briscoe (freeman of Boston 24 Feb 1639/40) and his family in the latest Register if anyone wants to source this profile.

Spencer, Austin, et al. "William Briscoe of Boston, Massachusetts, His English Origin, and the Briscoe and William Families of Cumberland" NEHGS Register 178, #1 (Winter 2024), pages 5-51

So this would not get lost, I added the article as a research note. Since I do not have access to the journal and cannot read the article, I did not think it was appropriate to add it as a reference at this time.

This is going to take longer than I have. A first wife needs to be added, Jane (Unknown) and the son Joseph would need to be moved to her as the mother.

I did put the citation for the baptism and updated the birthplace and year based on the information provided by the article. The profile itself will need a lot more work...

Took another look at this today and found a duplicate. I just requested merges for him and his second wife.

When I read his father was a rector, the memory of a database popped into my head, which I urge all people interested in PGM, Mayflower, UK history, etc. to BOOK MARK:

Clergy of the Church of England

In that databse, the last names is BRISTOWE. A remider to try all spellings when searching.

Productivbe researching  to all.

Yes that’s a useful database I use often. Also another important thing is to check the image of the register or whatever document it is if there is one as often there are useful details untranscribed..

Being a will nerd I always look for a will as those can be a gold mine of information.
