I have a relative, [[McCadden-99|George D McCadden (1903-1963)]], with a record stating that he entered active service in WWII at "CB, NCTC, Williamsburg, Va." and separated from active service at "US NTC, Davisville, R. I."
Does anyone know what these acronyms are? I suspect CB stands for Construction Battalion but would like verification.

My guess is  "CB" in the context of Williamsburg, VA during WWII likely stands for "Construction Battalion," which is associated with the Seabees of the United States Navy. These battalions were crucial in constructing naval bases and other military structures during the war. The "NCTC" stands for Naval Construction Training Center, which was located at Camp Peary near Williamsburg, VA. This center was instrumental in training the Seabees before they were deployed to various theaters of war.
